About

Laura J. Hoevenaar graduated from Lebanon High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Elementary Education at Principia College. Since then, she has performed both internationally and locally in operas, oratorios, musical theater productions and classical music concerts. She has studied locally with Thomas Sherwood, William Seale and Kenneth Shaw. Her mezzo-soprano voice has been described as strong, rich, vibrant, expressive and warm.

Ms. Hoevenaar has been providing quality private vocal instruction since 2001 and, as a member of The VoiceCare Network, NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and OMEA (Ohio Music Educator’s Association), is committed to helping students reach their fullest potential. Students learn to sing in a free and healthy way with proper technique, increase their musical knowledge, and become more self-confident in their abilities by putting what they learn into practice. Her students have achieved Superior ratings in contests, have been awarded music scholarships and have won desired roles in musical productions. What Laura finds most rewarding is watching her students blossom in the discovery and free expression of their natural and unique voices.

Laura independently studies vocal pedagogy and takes workshops to stay abreast of the latest teaching methods and scientific research. She is familiar with and a proficient teacher of many vocal styles including Classical, Opera, Jazz, Pop, Musical Theatre, and R&B.
